A town in new Zealand has had a 'weird' outbreak of incidents involving biting, accordingto police.

This weekend alone a woman was accused of biting a man so hard her teeth cut through an artery, while another woman was arrested after allegedly chomping on a woman's ear outside a supermarket.

Yesterday cops were called to the Maadi Rd New World supermarket car park in the town of Napier after a fight was reported."

It was a fight between three females and duringthe fight one of the females has bitten another one's ear and drawn blood.

She hasn't bitten it off, but quite badly so she needed some medical attention, a Hawke's Bay District Command Centre spokesman told Stuff.

Later that evening, police were called to an unrelated biting incident at a pub called The Thirsty Whale.

Police said a woman jumped on a man fighting her brother and sank his teeth into his neck.

The man lost so much blood he was admitted tohospital in a serious condition, officers added. The woman was arrested and the injured man has now been discharged from hospital, police said.

Thirsty Whale bar owner Chris Sullivan said a bouncer applied pressure to the wound to stop it bleeding until an ambulance arrived.

"We've never seen these people before – they'recertainly not locals."

The woman in the bar attack was charged with wounding the man, the police spokesman said.

Incredible, another person in the town was bitten in the week after a family row turned violent.

The police spokesman added: "It is a little bit weird."
